Teddy Bear Project

In a children's hospice in Lviv, babies with severe disabilities and life-limiting conditions receive round-the-clock care. Yet hygiene regulations mean they are unable to have something most children take for granted – a teddy bear or soft toy.

Effective Aid Ukraine is working with local officials and healthcare professionals to change these rules. We are advocating for a practical solution that allows children access to new, child-safe and washable soft toys while maintaining appropriate infection-control standards.

Our goal is to establish a successful pilot in Lviv and use it to support regulatory reform across Ukraine. If successful, the project could benefit hundreds of babies living in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, hospices and residential care facilities nationwide.

The Teddy Bear Project is about more than toys. It is about dignity, comfort and helping Ukraine adopt modern, child-centred standards of care.
